Ngā Mihi


Our Te Reo Māori goal is correct pronunciation. We are learning to say our mihi (greetings) to others. Below is a recording to help with practise. The place names are tricky - just give them a go! :)

Ko _______________ tōku matua. (your father)
Ko _______________ tōku whaea. (your mother)
Ko ________________ tōku ingoa. (your name)
Ko _______________tōku hoa pai. (your best friend)
________________ ahau. (where you are from)
Kia Ora.

Zimbabwe – Timuwawe (say “tee-moo-wah-weh”)
Auckland – Ākarana (say “Ah-ka-ra-na”)
Dunedin – Ōtepoti (say “Or-teh-poh-tee”)
Hamilton – Hamutana (say “Ha-moo-ta-na”)
Australia – Ahetereiria (say “Ah-heh-teh-ray-ree-a”)
Wellington - Whanganui - a - Tara (say "Fa-nga-noo-ee - a - ta-ra")
