Welcome Back Everyone!

Welcome to Term 2 everyone!

We start the term welcoming Ava and her family to Halswell School. We are very lucky to have another wonderful person join our class!

Please remember, you need to make sure you're warm outside this winter. You will be eating inside most days, but you will be playing outside unless it's raining. That means, sweatshirts AND a jacket if you have one. Beanies/gloves/scarves are all OK but please remember to name them. They are your responsibility and need to fit into your bag during class time.

You may like to bring slippers to wear inside, as all dirty shoes need to be taken off before entering the class.

As always, please bring a drink bottle, your reading folder with notebook inside, and a beautiful smile to class tomorrow :)

Room 20's Crusaders Class Co-Op!!

Lucky Room 20!!!

On Wednesday 17 April, we were visited by Dave Nicholas, the More FM DJ, with a surprise. We'd won 36 tickets to the Crusaders vs Highlanders game that Saturday.

And here is our class, and some parents, enjoying the game!

Term 1 Spelling Results

We have been learning 5 spelling words a week while we've been practising remembering our notebooks for Friday testing. Congratulations to the following person, who got 5/5 EVERY WEEK this term (with one week to go!)

Also, well done to Gabriella, Makenzie, Amy, Leah and Chelsea for getting near perfect results this term.

What Makes Ten?

We have been working hard on building up our number knowledge in Room 20. We're trying to get faster at working out our bonds to 10 and 20, and our doubles and halves. We need to know these pretty well to help us learn our addition and subtraction strategies.

Kahurangi group, tomorrow we're going to try and say our bonds to 10 even faster than this!

Pirate Day at the Quarry

Ahoy me mateys! On Thursday, 150 pirates and their captains made their way down to the Quarry for a day of initiative challenges, and a lot of fun!  Make sure ye check out our snaps from Pirate Day!

Happenings at Halswell

Yesterday some huge machines came and started drilling and mixing! They are testing a new way of making the ground underneath us stronger. Look at what we saw!

We are now onto our 4th daily - Listen to Reading. Today we worked on our stamina for 4min42sec. We also did Read to Self, Read to Someone and Work on Writing all at the same time today! It was a really exciting taste of what's to come. Check us out!
